| Hi Everyone! |
| As spring progresses, I am sure many of you continue to meet in IEP meetings. Are there areas of struggle for your child that concern you? If there are, be sure to make it known. We parents many times know in our gut that things are not right. But we continue to feel that the school knows best. Or that we feel uncomfortable to speak up. Or that our child just needs to do better! Follow your gut and document your concerns in a parent concerns letter. It’s so important to get things set for the upcoming year. And honestly, the IEP is the legal document that is supposed to support your child! Currently I just spoke with a client who has a third grader. He can’t read, despite the fact that he has had an IEP for four years! How can this be? I would say it represents many factors like lack of communication, lack of data that supports this ongoing failure of effective support, and lots of school push back! Don’t let this happen! Let me know if you have questions or would like a free consult with me! |
